Bulldogs fall in division play to Indians

FULTON --- The Itawamba Community College Indians took advantage of three turnovers from the Holmes Community College Bulldogs turning them into instant points and won the game, 37-7, here Thursday night.

With the loss, the Bulldogs fell to 0-7 on the season. Holmes hosts Mississippi Delta Community College on Thursday at 3 p.m. for the Homecoming contest. You can watch live at holmesccmedia.com/white-channel or listen on the Bulldog Radio Network.

Itawamba blocked a Bulldog punt and took it in for a touchdown. Itawamba led 7-0 with 11:40 left in the first quarter. Itawamba led 7-0 after one quarter.

Itawamba scored again late in the second quarter on a rushing touchdown with 53 seconds left to go up 14-0 at halftime.

Early in the third, the Indians added a passing touchdown to go up 20-0 after Jordan Milton blocked the extra point.

Later in the third, the Indians blocked another punt with 2:59 and landed on it in the endzone for a touchdown. The extra point was good, and Itawamba 27-0.

The Bulldogs fumbled the ball back to the Indians, and they raced in for a touchdown. The extra point made it 34-0 with 2:38 left in the third.

Holmes got on the board with 12:36 left in the game when Javonte Matthew scored from five yards out. Luke Moffett's extra point was good.

Itawamba's final points came with 8:19 left on a field goal.

Thomas McCauley led the Bulldogs in rushing with 97 yards on 14 carries. Zak Morris and LaDarrius Knighten each led the Bulldogs with eight tackles with Knighten having one tackle for loss and Morris having a caused fumble. Celeycan Hill had seven tackles while Milton had five tackles with two tackles for loss and a blocked extra point.
