Women's Tennis earns best finish at National Championship since 2017

MCC Women's Tennis finished their 2024 campaign with a top 15 finish at the NJCAA DI Women's Tennis National Championship.

The Lady T-Birds scored 11 points coming six points shy of a top 10 finish. Cowley took first place with 50 points, Hillsboroough took second with 44 points, & Tyler took third with 39.

Singles Play:

Taylor Wasson broke out in the tournament going 4-1 in singles action and would end up winning the flight 4 consolation final on Thursday, 8-1. 

Lynn Angulo, Journey Barajas, & Sienna Buttafuoco would each go 1-1 while Jackelin Almada Lopez & Mikaela Correa each went 0-2.

Doubles Play:

Taylor Wasson & Kirsten Nielson paired up to go 1-2 in doubles action while Mikaela Correa and partner Jackelin Almada Lopez went 1-1. Sienna Buttafuoco & Avounay Rossi went 0-2 in doubles action. 

Mesa went 11-18 in total matches in the tournament, capping off the event with their best finish since 2017 when they took home 8th place.
