Season-high by Langhorne helps in win over Timberwolves

(Herkimer's Carson Murphy scored 12 points Tuesday night against the Timberwolves).

HERKIMER, NY – Righting the ship after their first loss in over two months, the Herkimer Generals men's basketball team defeated SUNY Adirondack 80-57 Tuesday (1/13) afternoon in the varsity gym, collecting their sixth consecutive win in the process at home.

Herkimer (12-2, 5-1) had a slow start in this one, falling down by seven (9-2) within the first three minutes of play. Picking up the slack for the Generals was Dantre Langhorne (Greenport, NY) and Carson Murphy (Mohawk, NY). Each combined for eight points in the span of two minutes, erasing the early deficit (10-9), seeing Langhorne finish with a season-high 23 and Murphy add 12.

The lead got to double digits (26-15) with just over eight minutes left in the first half after Jallah Tarver (Schenectady, NY) scored five consecutive points on two made shots. Herkimer ended the half on a 15-9 run with Langhorne, Murphy and Tarver doing most of the damage, going into intermission up 41-24.

In the second half, the lead ballooned to 30 points a couple of times with multiple Generals getting into the scoring column in this Mountain Valley Conference game. In total, Herkimer had 11 players score, four reaching double figures. Jamell Johnson (Rochester, NY) was the final player to score in double figures, adding 12. It was his 10th game with over 10 points this season.

The Generals next game is against Columbia-Greene Community College. The Twins are currently one of the Top 10 teams in the region, winning their last three games. One of them was against SUNY Delhi who just erased Herkimer's 11-game win streak. Tip off between the Generals and Twins is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday, January 15th.
