Men's Soccer Remains Undefeated in 8-0 Win Over SUNY Broome

Binghamton, NY – The Generals defeated SUNY Broome 8-0 on the road to improve to an 8-0-0 record.  Freshman Shuntaro Morimoto (Kanagawa, Japan) opened up the scoring in the 22nd minute where he converted his penalty kick.  Sophomore Ali Somow (Utica, NY) scored the next two goals of the match.  He scored his first goal in the 38th minute off an assist from Morimoto.  Somow scored his second goal one minute later off an assist from freshman Zayne Throckmorton (Clay, NY). Sophomore Heath Lucas (Chazy, NY) scored the next goal of the game in the 67th minute off an assist from Sophomore Kyle Middleton (Dundee, Scotland).  Sophomore Shiko Ichimiya (Tokyo, Japan) scored the next two goals in the 76th and 79th minute of play.  His first goal was a penalty kick that he earned from being tackled inside the penalty area.  Ichimiya's second goal was assisted by sophomore Nichlas Kamfjord (Sandnes, Norway).  Kamfjord scored the seventh goal of the game off an assist from Ichimiya.  Lucas finished off the scoring in the 86th minute with the goal of the match.  He hit a half volley out of the air for the finish off an assist from freshman Wilman Miranda (Mamaroneck, NY).

Freshman goalkeeper Cathal Carney recorded two saves in seventy minutes of action.  Redshirt sophomore Jon Bovair (Canastota, NY) had 2 saves as well in twenty minutes of play.

The #2 nationally ranked Generals will host #3 Genesee on Wednesday, October 5th.  Kick-off is at 7:30pm at Wehrum Stadium.
