No. 20 Blinn sweeps Western Texas to finish Odessa College Wrangler Classic

ODESSA, Texas — No. 20 Blinn College volleyball (8-5) finished the Odessa College Wrangler Classic strong with a sweep over Western College, 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-18) on Saturday afternoon.

Earlier in the day, Odessa College swept Blinn, 3-0 (27-29, 10-25, 21-25), for the Buccaneers to split the day.

"I am really proud of how hard the girls played when they were on the floor," said Terry Gamble, Blinn head coach.

Cheyenne Te'o led the Blinn defense with 14 digs against Western Texas and nine digs against Odessa. Shelby Sheets led the offense with 21 kills and three aces against Odessa, while Rachel Barnett led Blinn's offense against Western Texas with seven kills and also recorded seven digs.  Roxanne Morris recorded 23 assists against Western Texas and 20 assists against Odessa.

Blinn College volleyball will travel to compete against Victoria College on Tuesday, Sept. 11, at 6 p.m.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 38 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
