Generals win season opener over HVCC Vikings

Herkimer NY- After missing last season due to the pandemic, the Nationally Ranked, Herkimer Generals were back in action Saturday (11/6) against Hudson Valley CC. The Generals controlled the game from early on, never surrendering the lead to the Vikings all game en route to a 81-66 win.

Sophomore captain Jayden Stephens (Yonkers, NY) pace the Generals with 17 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals. Fellow captain's Shykell Brown(Rochester, NY) and Keyshawn Miller(Yonkers, NY) filled the sheets as well. Brown chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds while Miller added 13 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals. Newcomer Chris Volo(Westbury, NY) posted a double double on the afternoon with 14 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocks. 

Head Coach Matt Lee who just started his 18th year at the helm noted " It was a very good team win to starts the season, were excited to get the season rolling". The Generals move to 1-0 on the season and will travel to Tompkins Cortland Tuesday 11/9 for a regional matchup.
