Buccaneer Track is Back
The DCC track and field team traveled to Spearfish, SD to compete at the Myrle Hanson Open hosted by Black Hills State University on January 14th.
The meet started out with a performance by Emberlyn Hoffman-Gaschk in the mile. She ran hard in her first indoor mile, and finished with 4th place. The meet continued on with sprints where Chaneille Richardson stood out in the 60m Dash in both preliminary and final races with a final finish in 4th place with a time of 8.03. The mid-distance races saw a performance by Lauren Rodacker who competed in the 400m Dash and finished with a time of, in her first ever 400m race. To round out the women's competition Chaneille Richardson again placed in the sprints races, where she placed 5th in the 200m with a new personal best.
On the men's side the meet saw Chase Keating open the meet up with field event competition where he placed 1st in long jump, 3rd in high jump, and 5th in triple jump. Later on in the meet James Springer placed 4th in the 800m and then Connor Chase and Garet Hoke raced the 3000m. Connor took 4th with a new personal best time and Garet took 6th. Finally in the finals of the 60m hurdles Mark Haas placed 3rd and Robby Gress placed 7th.
The Buccaneers will continue the indoor track action next week back at Spearfish for the Dave Little Alumni Mile Meet beginning on January 21st.
