SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College men's soccer team moves to 8-3 overall, 6-2 in conference play after hosting USC Union in an afternoon conference match.
Jose David Tejeda Benitez got the Statesmen on the board early in the third minute off a ball from Michael Afful. In the fifth minute, the pair teamed up again to take an early 2-0 lead. In the tenth minute, Afful found a gap in the defense and hit the mark for one of his own. In the final goal of the first half, Edgar Jose Reboredo Martins hit one between the pipes after receiving a ball outside of the 18 yard box from Jose David Tejeda Benitez. Leading 4-0 at the half, the Statesmen would add one more mark in the 71st minute by Raquan Bryant. The Bantams of USC Union would add two tallies in the second half but Richard Bland would come out victorious, 5-2.
Christopher Brown, Mason Dycus, and Cristian Rodriguez shared time between the pipes. Dycus made two saves and Rodriguez, three in the win.
The Richard Bland men's soccer team has a quick turnaround and travels to USC Sumter for a make up conference contest at 12pm.
