Ladies Advance over North Arkansas

(April 9, 2024) Ardmore, Oklahoma - Coming off a season sweep of North Arkansas, the Bucks wanted to keep their momentum going into the Southwest District Tournament. The ladies were the #2 seed entering the tournament and were matched up with #7 North Arkansas. The game was slated to begin at 1:30 pm this afternoon, but a thunderstorm rolled in this afternoon. The game began at 6:40 pm at Regional Park.

The ladies wanted to start fast and scored a run in the bottom of the first inning. Madie Rohre (Whitewright, TX) hit a 1-out RBI triple to put the Bucks on the board. The lead was short lived as North Arkansas tied the contest in the top of the second inning and later took the lead in the bottom of the second.

The Bucks offense came alive in the bottom of the third inning. With 1 out and a pair of runners on, Kate Daigle (Rayne, LA) hit a RBI single to right field. Next at-bat, Bri Crowley (Springdale, AR) grounded into a fielder's choice to plate another run. After a Laney Linseisen (Longview, TX) sac fly, JJ Bass (Joaquin, TX) reached on an error that allowed a run to score to make it 5-2 after three innings. 

The ladies added a run in the fourth on a Lilli Williams (Granbury, TX) RBI single to centerfield. She would later ground into a double play in the bottom of the sixth that plated a run to make the final score of 7-2.

Olivia Nickson (Bentonville, AR) got the start in the circle and went the distance, pitching 7.0 innings. It wasn't her best day, but Nickson (6-4) struck out 5 and walked 5 in the outing. She gave up 2 runs on 4 hits. 

The ladies now play at 4 pm on Friday agains the winner of #3 National Park College and #6 Carl Albert State College.
