Tiger tennis teams pick up road wins over ranked Collin College squads

In a battle of top-10-teams Thursday in McKinney, TX, the No. 2-ranked Cowley College men's tennis team knocked off Collin College 5-4. The No. 4-ranked Lady Tigers were even more dominant in a 9-0 win over No. 9-ranked Collin.

"The girls came out very strong winning all three points in doubles and carried that same energy into their singles matches," Cowley assistant coach Arianna Raga said. "Their hard effort showed as they pulled a clean sweep of 9-0. "

The Lady Tigers were pushed to three sets in only two matches as Isid Hernandez and Lea Rebreyend pulled out three-set wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles.

Facing a talented Collin squad, the Tiger men won two of three doubles matches before splitting the six singles matches.

"The boys had tough matches, but at the end were able to pull out the victory," Raga said.

Sophomore Jack Clements remains unbeaten at No. 1 singles and teamed with Takeshi Taco to win at No. 2 doubles. Taco was also victorious at No. 2 singles.

The Tiger tennis teams will remain busy by playing matches at the Southwest JUCO Tournament at Colling College on Friday and Saturday.

"Both teams are ready to play at the Southwest JUCO Tournament," Raga said.
