Jayhawks Downed by No. 16 Lakeland

KIRTLAND, Ohio - In the midst of their seven-game road trip, the Jamestown Community College men's basketball team fell to No. 16 Lakeland Community College Wednesday evening, 102-58.

 

The Jayhawks (0-4) were led by forward Keon Armstrong (Chatham, NY/Chatham HS) with 14 points with guard Jafar Yahuza (Staten Island, NY/Port Richmond) adding eight points.

 

Early in the first half, the Lakers gained a 14-6 lead with 12:39 left in the half but were unable to gain a double-digit lead.

 

Down six with just over eight minutes left in the frame, the Jayhawks clawed back with baskets from Armstrong and Yahuza to make it a 24-22 game. The Lakers found their offense and did not let up, going on an 18-0 run to make it a 40-22 game with 2:39 left in the half.

 

The Jayhawks went 23-for-49 (46.9 percent) from the floor while the Lakers went 41-for-64 (64.1 percent) from the field. On the boards, Lakeland grabbed 32 rebounds with JCC grabbing 26 rebounds.

 

The Jayhawks will be back on the road this Friday, November 19th, as they face CCBC Catonsville at 8 p.m. No spectators are allowed.
