Chiefs fall to third in the ISCC

(Northbrook, IL) -  Waubonsee Community College golfers entered the fourth Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) match of the season in second place in the league standings. However, by the end of the day at Heritage Oaks Golf Course the Chiefs dropped into third overall. Waubonsee, Elgin Community College and Moraine Valley Community College all tied for third on the day with a team score of 336. But after going to the fifth score tie breaker Waubonsee fell all the way to fifth place. The host school Oakton Community College took the team title for the fourth straight match with a score of 314 to clinch the ISCC title. Its the first ever ISCC golf championship for the Owls. The College of Lake County finished second on the day with a team total of 320 and vaulted ahead of the Chiefs and into second place in the overall standings. With two conference matches remaining Lake County, Waubonsee, Moraine Valley and Elgin are all separated by only three points. Lake County's Kirby Torola took medalist honors with a 2-over par 74, one stroke ahead of Morton College's Liam Spillane and Casey Taylor whom each finished with a 75. 

Individually for Waubonsee, Cody Ganzon fired a 10-over par 82 on the day and currently sits in fifth place in the conference with a 79.0 average per round as he looks to earn All-ISCC honors for the second straight year. Gavin Woods also carded an 82 on the day, bouncing back from shooting an uncharacteristic 94 last week. Isaac McCumber finished with an 84 after struggling on the front nine and posting a 44 at the turn. Kyle Ryan also bounced back on the back nine with a 40 after recording a 48 on the front nine to finish with an 88. Emilee Schultz rounded out the Chiefs competitors with a round of 115.
