Signature Win!! Ransom, Lewis Lead Runners' Men's Basketball Past Middlesex College!

The signature win that RCSJ men's basketball coach Will Logan waited for is now officially in the books!

Guard Khayri Ransom pumped in 24 points while forward Jarvis Lewis hit two key baskets in the closing moments and dominated the defensive boards as the Runners stunned visiting Middlesex College, 68-61, Saturday.

The Runners rallied from an early 12-point deficit to tie the game at halftime and then overcome the talented Colts in the second half for the win. The triumph was the third in a row for Logan's team, who improved to 6-5 overall and clearly established themselves as a top-tier GSAC and Region 19 team this winter.

"We've let a couple of games just like this get away from us against some good teams -- so this one felt very, very good," said Logan following the memorable triumph. "Hopefully this will be the start of some amazing success ahead for these players."

The Runners fell behind by a 23-11 count early in the first half and appeared ready to fold. But they ramped up their defense and went on a 20-8 run, highlighted by two key Jeremy Young free throws, to forge a 31-31 halftime tie.

In the second half, the Runners came out firing and held a 60-48 advantage with 4:44 remaining. The Colts (6-3 overall), led by 20 points from guard Mikah Johnson, staged a rally of their own but fell short as Lewis (10 points) dropped in two late baskets and Ransom sank two clutch free throws to seal the win for RCSJ.

"No way we wanted to let this one get away, and everyone played tough down the stretch," said Lewis. "We know how talented we are, but it's nice to finish the job against a good team."

Next up for the Runners will be a road match at Ocean County College on Tuesday, Dec. 14, in a 6 pm start followed by two more road games later in the week as their GSAC and Region schedules heat up.
