Kolbas Leads Reivers at National Preview

The Iowa Western men competed in the NJCAA National Preview at Sand Creek Station on Tuesday and Wednesday in Newton, KS. The Reivers shot a team score of 917 (306-306-305) for the 3-round tournament won by New Mexico Junior College.

Sophomore Jason Kolbas again set the pace for the team finishing in a tie for 37th after rounds of 77-76-73 (+10). Teammates Cooper Hanson and Henry Kosmicki followed Jason with a 3-round total of 230 (+14), good enough for a tie for 55th place.

After a rough start in rounds 1 and 2, The Reivers did bounce back in the final round on Wednesday by shooting the 5th lowest team score of the day (305) in extremely gusty wind conditions. "We have to be better going forward," assistant coach Derrick Ceder said. "I'm pleased we were able to put our bad day behind us and show some grit during the final round on Wednesday in much tougher conditions but we have to find a way to take the big miss out of our games."
