Vikings split softball doubleheader with Lansing
GOCC takes Game 2.
Glen Oaks softball split Friday's league doubleheader at Lansing Community College. The Stars got the better of the Vikings with an 11-3 result after six innings in game one. GOCC battled back to take game two 7-5.
In game one, Glen Oaks scored twice in the third inning and once in the fifth. The game was tied 2-2 after the third, but Lansing opened up with two runs in the fourth, four in the fifth, and three in the sixth. LCC outhit GOCC 12-4.
The Glen Oaks hits came from Aimee Reinhardt, Alea Fisher, Aubrey Mealor, and Ava Mejia. Reinhardt had two RBI. Mealor, Meija, and Sierra Smith each scored runs.
The Vikings never trailed in game two, starting the contest with three runs in the top of the first inning. Lansing put two on the board in the fourth. Glen Oaks countered with one in the fifth and three in the sixth. The Stars attempted to rally and got three back in the seventh, but the Vikings held on for the win.
Glen Oaks outhit Lansing 11-7 in game two. Reinhardt and Dakota Sigler both had home runs. Reinhardt had two hits, three RBI, and two runs on the day. Sigler had two hits, two RBI, and one run.
Smith singled thrice and scored two runs. Brady Lesher had a double and two runs. Also getting hits were Kacie Scott, Jaden Adams, and Mejia.
Sigler pitched a complete game victory with five strikeouts. She allowed seven hits, five runs, three earned runs, and two walks.
Friday's results put Glen Oaks at 5-3 in MCCAA Western Conference play and 10-6 overall. The Vikings are scheduled for another road doubleheader Saturday versus Jackson College.
