TUCSON, Arizona - Franco Roldan looked impressive in the Round of 32 in the No. 1 singles bracket of the NJCAA DI National Tournament at the Reffkin Tennis Center on Monday.
Roldan picked up a 6-4, 6-1 win over Jofree Tuca of Prairie State College (IL) to advance to face Abhi Venkatachalam of Collin College (TX). In No. 2 singles play, Blake Gregory dropped a 6-1, 6-1 decision to Marek Slojewski of Prairie State College and will move to the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket.
Roldan and Gregory fell 6-7 (4), 6-3, 1-0 (12) to Guido Luna and Sebastian Pino of Barton County Community College (KS) before being eliminated from doubles play with a 6-0, 4-6, 6-3 loss to Tuca and Slojewski of Prairie State College.
Both Roldan and Gregory will continue their singles play on Tuesday.
