CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Dallas College Eastfield's No. 1-ranked volleyball team breezed past Dutchess Community College, 25-5, 25-11, 25-6, in the opening round of the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Tournament Thursday.
The No. 1-seeded Harvester Bees (32-0) will play ninth-seeded Delta College (15-4) in Thursday's 7:30 p.m. CT quarterfinals.
Eastfield hit .452 in a match where Dutchess (24-6) was simply overmatched. The Falcons managed just nine kills, and hit -.162.
Carli Banks had eight kills, while hitting .800 on 10 swings. Tasmine Maxwell had six kills and a .625 attack rate. Azoria Davis had six kills and a block. Kendall Wilson had five kills, and hit .625. Denee Cullum had 19 assists and three aces, and Taryn Doiron 17 assists. Brenly Walker's eight digs topped the Harvester Bees.
Dutchess' Franchelis Guzman had 12 digs.
The Harvesters recorded their 27th sweep of the season.
