Green leads Barton women's cross country at Masterson Twilight #GoBarton

Running their first meet of the season, the Barton Community College women's cross country team competed Friday at the 5th annual Terry Masterson Twilight Classic in Hutchinson. Enduring the humid evening course at Fun Valley Sports Complex, the Cougars placed fifth in the three mile race under the lights.

Leading the six Barton first-year collegiate competing entries in the fifty runner field was freshman Kayan Green with a time of 19:14.0 to place fifth overall.

Lashanna Graham was next to cross for the Cougars in 23rd place as the freshman timed a 21:03.0.

Sasha Brown led the remaining four Cougars with the sophomore crossing in 22:30.7 for 35th place. Tara Elmer finished in 40th at 24:10.4 as Dayjsha Fanning (27:09.8) and Ruth Reyes (27:42.5) placed 46th and 47th respectively.

The Cougar men did not compete in the season's opening race but will make their debut next Friday, September 11, at the Ollie Isom Invitational in El Dorado, Kansas.

The two squads will then not compete again until the Region VI Championships held November 14 in El Dorado.
