Reivers sweep the day, take out Fort Scott and Johnson County in straight sets

Overland Park, KS- The Reivers headed to Johnson County to participate in the Johnson County Invitational on Friday.  In the first match of the day, Iowa Western cruised past Fort Scott in straight sets (25-16, 25-14 and 25-14).

The Greyhounds struggled to find an answer for the Reivers offense. Setters, Hina Pua'a and Annika Hufnagel, teamed up to dish out 39 assists. The offensive attack was led by sophomore Irina Alekseeva and freshman Kelsey Havel with 10 kills each.  Defensively, sophomore libero, Ariana Macies, stymied the hounds attack totaling a career-high of 24 digs. When Macias wasn't digging up the Fort Scott attacks, sophomore, Morgan Bossler set up a brick wall, registering 6 blocks.

The second opponent of the day for the Reivers was tournament host and current NJCAA Division II No.1, Johnson County Community College. The Cavaliers put up a good fight, but were outgunned by the Reivers. Iowa Western swept Johnson County earning their 18th win of the season (25-19, 25-18 and 25-21).
