Johnson Sets New School Marks In Two Events

FREDONIA - In their final regular swim of the season, the Jamestown Community College men's swimming and diving split at the Fredonia State Tri-Meet.

 

The Jayhawks took down Medaille College by a score of 79-54 but were defeated by Fredonia State by a score of 111.5-61.5.

 

"A lot of great swimmers tonight," said head coach Todd Conklin. "The kids have been working hard and as the regular season ends, we're really focused on the next level of our championship season. Championship season will kick off in the middle of February, and these kids will be ready and excited for some big drops."

 

Freshman Maxim Johnson continues to rewrite the JCC swimming & diving record book, this time in the 200 yard butterfly and in the 200 yard IM. Johnson placed first in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:06.47 and first in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 50.71. In the 200 yard IM, Johnson placed second with a time of 2:08.02.

 

Joseph Keyser (Mayville, NY/Chautauqua Lake Central) placed first in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 25.19.

 

Josh Carr (Wigan, England/Standish Community HS) showed great improvement in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:23.57, taking off six seconds from his previous best. Gavin Roux (East London, Eastern Cape, South Africa/Seborne College) also improved in the 50 yard freestyle with a new personal best with a time of 29.66.

 

The Jayhawks will be back in action this Saturday, January 28th, as they travel to the Genesee Community College Last Chance Meet.
