Kayleigh Minehart's goal helps lift Apache Ladies by Navarro

Kayleigh Minehart scored the go-ahead goal with 15 minutes remaining to lift the No. 2 Tyler Junior College Apache Ladies to a 3-2 victory over No. 9 Navarro College on Wednesday night in a Region XIV Conference women's showdown soccer match at Pat Hartley Field.

With the match tied at 2-2, Patricia Estupinan, a sophomore from Spain, took a free kick and freshman Minehart, a former Tyler Lee standout, put the ball into the back of the net.

The Apache Ladies improved to 7-0 on the season and 6-0 in conference. The Lady Bulldogs fell to 6-3 overall and 5-1. The loss snapped a Navarro six-game winning streak.

TJC has two straight home non-conference games — 5 p.m. Friday vs. Johnson County (Kansas) and 5 p.m. Tuesday vs. LSU-Eunice.

Navarro returns to play on Friday, traveling to Cisco. The match has a 2 p.m. start.
