Knights offense shines in win over Howard
The #2 Nationally ranked CCBC Essex Knights Men's Lacrosse team finds themselvesi n the win column once again after a dominant 17-5 victory over conference rival
Howard CC.This victory keeps the undefeated season alive, bringing their record to animpressive 7-0.
The Knights are one of the nation's top scoring teams, averaging an impressive 19 goals per game. They put their ability to score on display early, as top five scorer Peyton Moritzen scored the games first goal a little under two minutes into the first quarter. The Knight's defense was stout throughout the first half as well, creating ample opportunities for the offense to score. They forced the Dragons to have 14 turnovers in the first half, and also scooped up 17 ground balls to the Dragons eight. The combined efforts of the Knights offense and defense allowed them to head into half with an 8-3 lead. The second half was more of the same story. Great offense and defense from the Knights. The Knights other top five scorer Kyle Morrison took over, scoring five of his six goals in the second half. The Knights defense continued to create problems for theDragons, and even when they were able to get shots off, goalie Colin Parker notched 11 of his 14 saves for the day in the second half. Parker is having a stellar season, as he'ssecond nationally in saves with 76. The Knights' unrelenting offense and defense allowed them to cruise to a 17-5 Victory.
With a heavyweight matchup with #3 Nassau Community College looming, the Knights will need to continue to play at a high level. Catch the battle at the castle on Saturday, March 29 th at 12pm.
