Learning experience continues for Barton men's bowling at Mid-States Championships #GoBarton

Filled with many learning experiences all weekend long, the Barton Community College men's bowling team logged a 26th place finish this past weekend at the Mid-States Championships held at Wichita's Northrock Lanes.

Competing in their first Tier-I tournament of the season which featured the top NCAA Division I, Division II and NAIA programs in the Midwest, the Cougars finished the two-day event with a pin accumulation of 8,699 over six-individual and 20 baker games.

Sitting atop the 32-team field was host school Wichita State University compiling 11,331 pins to edge out St. Ambrose University's runner-up tally of 10,715.

Carter Lambeth rolled a pair of 200-plus games to lead the Barton varsity squad in Saturday's individual games. Lambert, a freshman had games of 217 and 208 while posting a six-game score of 1,128, for an 83rd placing.

Cougar sophomore Cale McConnell placed 96th individually with a 1,088 score, with a second game high score of 197.

Sitting out the opening two games, Braden Boswell provided some spark off the bench for Barton booking the highest average per-game score of 190.5 in his four games tossed.

Khalil Sanchez led the Cougars junior varsity entry with a 147th place totaling 933 pins while also carding Barton's highest individual game score of 226 in the fifth of his six games bowled.

Wichita State University's Spencer Robarge took top honors with a six-game total 1,461 to best the 312-participant field.

Barton will remain in state for the second straight weekend competing Saturday and Sunday in the Jayhawk Challenge held at Lawrence's Roy Crest Lanes.
