Bulldogs fall to Lions, 49-7

SCOOBA --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs fell behind early to the East Mississippi Community College Lions and couldn't make up ground as the Lions won 49-7 here Thursday night.

East Mississippi scored a rushing touchdown in the first quarter and added the extra point to lead 7-0 after the first.

The Lions put up five touchdowns in the second quarter with three in the air, one on the ground and one on a fumble recovery.

The Bulldogs' only touchdown came in the third with 8:22 left when freshman Parks Poe scored from three yards out. Luke Moffett's extra point was good. East Miss. scored their final touchdown on a passing play with 4:25 left in the third. Neither team scored in the fourth.

Wykece Johnson led the Bulldogs on the ground with 95 yards on 22 carries. Zak Morris had eight tackles in the game while Duke Arnold and Jordan Milton each had seven tackles. Milton had two tackles for loss in the game.
