Track and field head coach Keith Blackwill has high expectations for the women for the rest of the indoor season.

"For the women, I expect them to have top performances in the nation now," Blackwill said. "You know you can never control what the other team's do or how their kids compete, but I know that our kids will always go out and do their best and if they stay at the top of the list that's fine and if they move down, we'll just keep working and try to get back there."

The Thunderbirds maintained the No. 1 spot in Week 2's USTFCCCA NJCAA Women's Indoor Track & Field National Rating Index.

"This weekend we need our ladies to do what they've done in the past weeks," Blackwill said. "We're looking for some of those who haven't qualified to try to get qualified and improve on the times that we already have."

The T-Birds will compete next at the University of New Mexico Indoor Collegiate Classic in Albuquerque, NM Feb. 3-4.
