On Sunday in Hutchinson, KS the record setting Brunswick CC Dolphins Men's Basketball season came to an end at the NJCAA D1 National Tournament against the defending national champion Barton Community College (Great Bend, KS). In a game that was broadcast on ESPN+ and was back and forth early on it was a late surge at the end of the first half, fueled by the Barton crowd who were only an hour away from home, that pushed the halftime lead to 15 points and changed the momentum for the game. In the second half the Dolphins came out strong trimming the lead to eight points right away however another strong run by the Cougars determined the final score of 92-62. The Dolphins finish the season with a record of 28 wins and 5 losses. They won the NJCAA Region 10-D1 Regular Season Championship and the Region 10-D1 / Atlantic District Tournament. Prior to the loss on Sunday the Dolphins had won 16 straight games. Coach Walter Shaw of Brunswick CC was recognized as the Atlantic District Coach of the Year before the game. The 28 wins for the 2025 Dolphins ties the win record for the Dolphins program. The 2004-05 and 2007-08 Dolphins both had 28 wins but fell one game short of a trip to the National Tournament.
