LCCC Volleyball Gets Revenge and Trumps Cuyahoga CC

October 16, 2016 - For the second time in a week, the Lady Commodores of LCCC faced off with Cuyahoga CC volleyball. After losing 3-1 on October 14th, LCCC traveled to Tri-C and swept the Challengers in 3 (25-13, 25-22, 25-22). With this, LCCC heads into their final regular season match on a two match win streak and a season record of 16-13(5-8).

Right from the start the Lady Commodores made their presence known and jumped on top of the Challengers of Tri-C. As a team, LCCC had 38 kills, 36 assist, 50 digs and 5 total team blocks. Leading the way for her team was 2nd year player Maryssa Kellick who had 14 kills, 7 digs and 3 total blocks.

After dominating the first set 25-13, the last two remaining sets didn't follow suit. After only committing 2 team errors in set 1, the Lady Commodores committed 12 errors total in the final two sets. With Tri-C playing better, the Commodores relied on their two other big hitters in Kara Keim (12 digs, 3 digs) and Kelli Warren (9 kills, 2 digs). With Shannon Reaser (33 assist, 8 digs) back in the lineup, the Lady Commodores were able to keep their lead, closing out Tri-C 25-22 in set 2 and 25-22 in the final set.

LCCC will end their regular season at home on Wednesday, October 19th as they take on Owens CC (30-4). After Owens CC, the Lady Commodores will travel to Columbus to take on Columbus State on Friday, October 28th for the NJCAA Regional XII Championship.
