Several Jayhawks Post Personal Best on Day Three of Nationals

FORT PIERCE, Fla. - Continuing to set new personal bests, the Jamestown Community College men's swimming team currently sit in eighth place with 97 team points after day three of the National Junior College Athletic Association.

 

To lead the pack, freshman Matthew Fennell (Fourways Garden, Johannesburg, South Africa/King Edwards VII School) set a new school record in the 100 yard IM with a time of 1:05.52 to finish 18th. Fellow teammate Eathan Johnson (Panama, NY/Panama Central) was close behind, setting a new personal best with a time of 1:05.92 to finish 20th.

 

Freshman Colby Pantall (Jamesown, NY/Maple Grove HS) continues to swim his best, this time posting a time of 5:39.03 in the 500 yard freestyle, a new personal best. Fellow teammate Jackson Vanstrom (Jamestown, NY/Southwestern High) also had a personal best in the 500 yard freestyle, posting a time of 6:01.03 to finish 21st.

 

In the 100 yard breaststroke, Eathan Johnson finished with a time of 1:09.39, a new personal best, to finish 19th. Fennell also posted a personal best in the event with a time of 1:12.06, finishing 21st.

 

To wrap up the day, the team of Elliot Johnson (Panama, NY/Panama Central), Eathan johnson, Pantall, and Fennell competed in the 200 yard medley relay, posting a time of 1:52.29 to finish eighth.

 

The Jayhawks will compete in the final day of the national championships tomorrow, starting at 9:30 a.m.
