DMACC men's golf team wins NIACC Invite in record-breaking fashion

 

Sophomores Spencer Clatt of Gilbert and Kaleb Allen of West Burlington posted a six-under-par 66 and a five-under-par 67 respectively as the DMACC men's golf team set a new school record for 18 holes with a 13-under-par 275 in winning the NIACC Invite Sept. 26 at Highland Park Golf Course in Mason City.

 

The previous team record for an 18-hole tournament was 283 at the NIACC Invitational on Sept. 18, 2020.

 

Clatt and Allen both broke the individual school record for 18 holes. The previous record was a 68 by Braxton Risetter. The tournament and date of his round are not available.

 

The 275 turned in by the Bears gave them a 13-stroke cushion over runner-up Hawkeye Community College (HCC). The DMACC B men's golf team finished fourth with a six-over-par 294.

 

DMACC freshman Drew Teeter of Albert Lea, Minn., and sophomore Calvin McNeeley of Pleasant Hill rounded out DMACC's performance with rounds of 70 and 72 respectively. Teeter tied for sixth and McNeeley finished tenth.

 

Sophomore Cade McGill of Johnston led DMACC B with a two-under-par 70. Sophomore Drake Anderson of Sioux City posted a 71 and freshmen Caleb Ham of Hudson and Zach Julander of Pleasant Hill shot 76 and 77 respectively. McGill tied for ninth, Anderson tied for 10th, Ham tied for 19th and Julander tied for 24th.

 

DMACC sophomore Cole Johnson of Sioux City also played in the tournament and tied for 19th with a 76.

 

The DMACC men's golf team will play in the Redtail Shootout Oct. 6 at Fox Ridge Golf Course in Dike
