
FULTON, Miss. – The Indians used a career-best performance from Alyssa Clifft, who she struck out 13 batters in ICC's game one win over Delta, 4-0, enroute to the sweep of the Trojans on Wednesday.
Game 1: Indians 4, Delta 0
Clifft was dominant in the circle, ringing up 13 strikeouts while giving up no runs on six hits and no walks in the Indians' 4-0 game one win over Delta.
The Indians got on the board in the bottom of the first when Riley Tyree grounded out, allowing Allie Beckley to score. An RBI single by Chloe McClain scored Sammie Day-Jones.
In the bottom of the second, Beckley singled on a pop fly to score Tamiya Martin. The Indians put the exclamation point on the game one win when Tyree hit a solo home run to take a 4-0 lead in the sixth.
Beckley and McClain each recorded two hits and an RBI in the game one victory.
Game 2: Indians 8, Delta 0 (5 innings)
ICC completed the sweep over the Trojans with a run-ruling 8-0 game two win in five innings.
The Indians took an early 4-0 lead in the bottom of the second when Hallie Turner scored on an error followed by an RBI single by Tamiya Martin that brought in Avery Wolfe. Martin then scored on a sacrifice fly by Sammie Day-Jones, and Chloe McClain grounded into a fielder's choice, allowing Allie Beckley to score.
ICC added three more runs to their lead in the bottom of the third after Wolfe grounded into a fielder's choice which allowed Bryanna Clemons to score. Wolfe later scored on an error and Martin added a run on a bases-loaded walk.
The Indians secured the run-ruling game two victory when Day-Jones hit a home run to give ICC their eighth run of the contest.
Martin went three-for-three at the plate with an RBI while Turner added two hits.
Julia Shaw was the pitcher of record for the Indians, giving up no runs on five hits while striking out six batters.
The Indians will be back in action on Saturday when they host No. 13 Hinds.
