DCCC's Bats Held Silent in Game One Against Montgomery County
Blue Bell, Pa. - The Delaware County Community College baseball team could not solve Montgomery County Community College pitcher Liam O'Leary as O'Leary struck out 17 on the way to tossing a no-hitter against the visiting Phantoms Saturday afternoon.
O'Leary's standout performance happened in Game 1 on the day that saw the Mustangs claim a 30-0 victory.
The Phantoms (1-22) were once again hurt by a short-handed lineup that led to 11 errors.
MCCC (10-15) completed the sweep with a 14-1 victory in Game 2.
The Mustangs jumped out to a 13-0 lead after five frames of the nightcap, and DCCC showing a resiliency that has become commonplace, broke through with one run in the sixth. Sean Duffy accounted for the run, with Izaah Perocier registering the RBI.
Duffy and Michael Casson each had two hits in Game 2 while Steven Orfanelli and Gabe Palandro added a hit apiece.
Another determined effort from Hunter Whitten saw him go all six innings in the loss.
DCCC gets right back into action Monday with a single nine-inning game against visiting Salem Community College beginning at 3 p.m.
