Matadors fall 2-0 to Monroe in NJCAA DI Men's Soccer Championship Final

MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Arizona Western Matadors Men's Soccer team (18-3) saw its season come to an end with a 2-0 loss to Monroe (14-1-3) in the NJCAA DI Men's Soccer Championship Final on Saturday night at Orlando Health Stadium.
 
The Mustangs scored a pair of second-half goals, opening the scoring in the 59th minute thanks to a penalty. Monroe then added an insurance tally in the 79th minute on the counter-attack to push the scoreline to 2-0. 
 
Arizona Western had a chance to knot the score when trailing 1-0 late in the second half but Shoki Yoshida was denied on the doorstep by the Mustangs' keeper. 
 
Arizona Western recorded eight shots in the loss and keeper Atsuki Sato made a save. The Matadors finished the season with an 18-3 record and as National Runner-Up.
