The NCMC men's golf team traveled to Creston, IA on Monday to compete in the SWCC "War at the Moor" held at Crestmoor Golf Club. The Pirates fired a team score of 320 to finish 2nd in the team standings behind host school Southwestern Community College. Will Heller and Synjin Stockton led the Pirates on Monday with a pair of 79's that placed them T-6th in the tournament. Heller had nine-hole splits of 39 and 40 while Stockton posted a 43 on the front nine and improved by 7 shots on the back with an even par 36.
"Will picked up right we left off from Hutchinson. He has been finding fairways consistently and just needs to hit more green in regulation in a tournament setting. I'm really happy with where he is at right now," said Coach Swann. "Synjin posted his best collegiate round to date and I expect him to only get better with experience. He got off to a rough start with a few mental errors on the front but birdied 4 of his last 6 holes coming in which shows that he can get hot at any point throughout the round."
Jacob Stallo and Cody Smith posted pairs of 81 for NCMC. Stallo had three birdies on his scorecard while Smith had two birdies on the day.
Luke Lopes and Caden Miller rounded out the Pirate scoring on Monday. Lopes came around the Crestmoor layout with a 95 while Miller shot 102.
NCMC men's golf will be in action next when they travel to Smithville, MO to compete in the KC Cup hosted by William Jewell College on September 25th-26th.
