HERKIMER GRINDS OUT HOME WIN OVER NORTH COUNTRY

HERKIMER —After two consecutive road games, the Generals (11-4) came back home to earn a hard-fought win over North Country by a score of 76-69

Herkimer's stifling 2-3 zone confused North Country early, forcing six turnovers in the first ten minutes of the game.

The Generals held North Country to 19 points in the first 16:54 of the game, but the Saints scored 13 points in the final three minutes of the half, and trailed 36-32 at halftime.

Herkimer was persistent on their full court press, and never allowed a scrappy North Country team to gain the lead in the second half.

Freshman point guard Dante Griffin was noticeably more aggressive in the Generals offense, leading them in scoring with 16 points.

Freshman guard Keyshawn Miller continued his hot streak from beyond-the-arc adding 12 points off of four three-pointers — all of which came in the second half.

Miller now has eight three-pointers in his last two games. In his previous nine games, he had only four makes from long-range.

"I'm locked in," said Miller. "I've evolved my all-around game throughout the season. I'm getting to the bucket more, and it's giving me more looks from three. I'm just taking advantage of what the defense is giving me."

Rochester freshmen guards Shykell Brown & Mecca McCullough each scored 10 points.

Herkimer's next game is at North Country this Wednesday at 6 p.m. as part of a home-and-home series.
