Daytona Beach, FL.— The Daytona State College women's soccer program earned its first win of the season by shutting out Georgia Military College 11-0 Sunday morning at Bulldog Field. 

Sophomore Shania Harris (Portmore, Jamaica) scored the Falcon's 1^st goal of the game at the 1:45 minute mark with an assist from Freshman Alejandra Espinosa (Boca Raton, FL).  The next goal arrived at the 5:23 minute mark by Sophomore Allison Worley (Melbourne, FL) on a penalty kick that she drew splitting the Bulldog defenders in the box. 

Harris would score the next two goals assisted by Freshman Akari Kishida (Tokyo, Japan) and Wakaba Kogure (Tokyo, Japan) for her first hat-trick of the season.  The Falcon's entered halftime with a score of 4-0. 

Daytona State did not remain silent as they opened the second half scoring with 4 goals in the first 5 minutes.  Espinosa scored the Falcon's 1^st goal of the second half in the 45^th minute off a corner kick from Kishida. 

Worley would score her second goal of the game with an assist from Sophomore Morgan Hosier (Fleming Island, FL). 

Kogure earned her first goal of the season as a Falcon with another assist from Hosier. 

The second Falcon hat-trick was scored by Worley in the 50^th minute unassisted.

Sophomore Rowan Deubel (St. Petersburg, FL) would score her first goal as a Falcon with another assist by Kishida.  Kishida continued to dish out the assists with Freshman Jada Samuels (Tampa, FL) scoring a header off a corner kick. 

The final Falcon goal would come in the 90^th minute with an unassisted goal by Sophomore Lucia Garcia (Austurias, Spain).

Sophomore goalkeeper Lucia Guemes (Ampuero, Spain) would share the shutout with Freshman Abby Starkey (Reynoldsburg, OH)

"It was a great season opener for our program, as our first game scheduled earlier in the week was cancelled due to storms." commented head coach, Hope Clark "I was pleased that we were able to see minutes on almost every player and that the goals and assists were spread out through the team.  The team had really put in the work during preseason, so I was excited they could see that effort pay off today."

The Falcons had 20 shots compared to Georgia Military's 2 and 11 shots on goal compared to 2.

The Falcons are now 1-0-0 on the season while Georgia Military College is 0-2-0

Daytona State will travel to Panama City Beach to meet #15 Louisiana State University-Eunice on Friday, August 26^th at the Publix Sports Complex.
