Lakers Achieve Personal Bests at NJCAA DIII Cross Country Championships

RICHMOND, VA. - The Finger Lakes Community College cross country teams capped their season on a high note at the 2024 NJCAA DIII National Championships at Pole Green Park, where the Lakers faced off against top national competitors. For many, their final race of the season marked their most successful yet, with several Lakers achieving personal bests on the national stage.

Leading the Lakers, Kayla Dunston delivered a remarkable personal record, crossing the line at 23:14 for 45th place. Her performance underscored season-long improvement as the MSAC Champion and a All-Region selection in her freshman season. Madisyn Everdyke finished with a time of 26:30 (75th), and Alana Bedell closely followed with a time of 26:40 (76th).

The men's team also put forth an impressive effort, with sophomore Zachary Lester, who competed in his final race as a Laker, leading the squad in 30:47. Edarius Trimble and Timothy Vilkhu both achieved personal bests, clocking in at 31:07 and 34:29, respectively. Griffin Miller completed his race with a solid time of 33:08.

For 2025, the Lakers will return a solid group of experienced sophomores who will lead the way for what should be another successful season for Finger Lakes cross country.
