NJCAA Foundation Creates Sport Opportunity Grant

Charlotte, NC - The NJCAA Foundation has announced the creation of the NJCAA Sport Opportunity Grant to support the addition, growth, and sustainment of NJCAA sports. As one of its main objectives, the NJCAA Foundation strives to provide new opportunities to student-athletes and member colleges across the association.

The NJCAA Sport Opportunity Grant is available for NJCAA member colleges to apply as they expand sport offerings at their institution while increasing student-athlete access and achievement. The grant will be awarded based on need and allotted funding.

"With the NJCAA Sport Opportunity Grant, the NJCAA Foundation can support student-athletes and member colleges directly, while also increasing the national visibility of two-year college athletics," said Brian Luckett, NJCAA Foundation Executive Director. "The NJCAA continues to grow and with that, continues to provide opportunities for student-athletes and member colleges to reach new heights."

Since 2018, the NJCAA Foundation, 501c3 non-profit organization, has funded scholarships, community programs, and national awards for the association's student-athletes, member colleges, and administrators. In 2021, the NJCAA Foundation has secured over $350,000 in grants to provide NJCAA member colleges starting the sports of women's flag football and men's volleyball.

"Bestowing academic and athletic opportunities to hundreds of thousands of students is the vital mission of the NJCAA Foundation," stated Timothy Britt, NJCAA Foundation Board Chair. "With this funding, the NJCAA Sport Opportunity Grant will extend sport offerings and academic opportunities across the association, setting the standard for success."
