NJCAA Supports Health Care Workers
NJCAA Supports Health Care Workers Toolkit
Charlotte, NC - As the association approaches one-year of navigating the COVID-19 pandemic, the NJCAA recently returned to sports when teams throughout the country returned to the playing surfaces for competition last month. The NJCAA will further celebrate the return to sports as 39 national championships are slated to take place throughout the upcoming semester.
Before venturing into the 2021 championship season, the NJCAA feels it is important to recognize and honor the health care and frontline workers who have sacrificed so much during the past year. Throughout the week-long campaign, the NJCAA will highlight former student-athletes who have made an impact in their communities while working in the health care field.
The NJCAA National Office encourages member colleges, staff, student-athletes, teams, and all those affiliated with the national association to show their support for the courageous workers on the frontlines throughout the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. A number of graphic templates and photo frames can be found in the NJCAA Supports Health Care Workers Toolkit to utilize on social media throughout the week.
Two-year community and technical colleges around the country provide opportunities for students to prepare for a future career in the health care field at a reduced cost compared to attending a four-year institution. According to the National League for Nursing, there was over 1,400 associate degree registered nursing programs in the U.S. in 2016. Many NJCAA member colleges continually rank amongst the top two-year college nursing programs in the country including Hutchinson Community College (KS), Bevill State Community College (AL), and Tallahassee Community College (FL).
In addition to nursing programs, many NJCAA member colleges offer students the opportunity to obtain an education in many disciplines within the health care field including dental hygiene, emergency medical response, and athletic training.
