Charlotte, NC – The NJCAA has announced Birmingham, AL as the host location for the 2021 NJCAA Convention which will be held April 11-15.
Located at the Sheraton Birmingham in the heart of the downtown district, the 2021 NJCAA Convention will welcome guests from around the country for professional development opportunities. Originally created in 2019, the NJCAA Convention features a number of panel speakers, leadership sessions, as well as the annual NJCAA Sport Committee meetings.
Tonia Whatley, National Sports Development Manager for the Greater Birmingham Convention & Visitors Bureau spoke on behalf of the city and its excitement for hosting the annual event. The 2020 Convention, originally scheduled for March 30-April 3, was cancelled due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. While the on-site convention was cancelled, the annual NJCAA Sport Committee Meetings were held virtually to ensure the association continued to stay on track.
Dr. Christopher Parker, NJCAA President & CEO expressed his thoughts as the organization has its sights set on moving forward. "A unique situation occurred with the 2020 NJCAA Leadership Institute and Convention that has motivated and inspired our team to put together a top-tier event come 2021, and as an association, we are thrilled to partner with the great city of Birmingham. We appreciate the vision of Tonia Whatley and the Birmingham CVB to host our premiere event that our leaders from around the country will thoroughly enjoy."
Previously known as the NJCAA Annual Meeting, the event has been held in annually rotating locations that have inlcuded the likes of Colorado Springs, CO, Richmond, VA, Couer d'Alene, ID, and Tuscon, AZ.
