Title streak continues for Indian River State women

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The 2016-2017 NJCAA women’s swimming & diving championship went to Indian River State (Fla.), finishing the tournament with 1,210 points. The Pioneer women clinched their 39th national title.

  • South Georgia State accumulated 563 points to finish second and Iowa Central rounded out the top three, totaling 498.5 points.
  • Ianthe Van Der Westhuizen of Indian River State won the 500-yard freestyle with a mark of 5:00.13.
  • The Pioneers’ Malin Wallen, Madisyn Lyons, Sarah Dostie and Ianthe Van Der Westhuizen took home the 800-yard freestyle relay – posting a time of 7:40.66 to win the event.
  • Indian River State won the 400-yard medley relay (3:50.50) led by Courtney Stewart, Courtney Perrett, Morgan Holt and Osianna McReed.
  • Natalie Grothe achieved the 400-yard IM title by swimming the event in 4:32.90 for another Indian River State win.
  • The Pioneers’ Adrianna Warning won the one-meter diving event with a score of 442.85.
