Daytona State shatters records on way to 10th title

Mesa, AZ – For the 10th time in its 20-year existence, Daytona State (FL) captured the NJCAA Women's Golf National Championship as the Falcons topped the field with an even-par 1,152 to set a national meet record by 24 strokes.

Leading from day one on at The Longbow Golf Course, Daytona State won its third straight national title with a margin of victory of 40 strokes. The 1,152 tally is the lowest four-round total in NJCAA women's golf national championship history. In addition to the team record, Jiwon Jeon and Grace St-Germain each posted an individual record of 8-under, 280. Jeon edged St-Germain in a three-hole playoff to win the individual national champion honors.

Seminole State (FL), the last team to best Daytona State in a national championship finished second with a 40-over 1,192. McLennan (TX), Dodge City (KS), and Western Texas rounded out the top five. Dodge City's finish is its best in program history.

  • St-Germain shot a combined 3-under through the first two rounds to hold an early lead until teammate Jeon fired three consecutive sub-70 scores to force a playoff.
  • Jeon posted a 4-under 68 in the final round, tied for the third-best individual round in national championship history.
  • Daytona State's Hollie Muse and Kendall Johnson concluded the tournament in sixth and seventh place, respectively.
  • Seminole State was led by Tuan-Yu Chiang's 1-over 289 third-place finish and fourth-place finisher Worapitcha Anudit's 3-over 291.
  • Western Texas' Sadie Dewinton-Davies boasted a 16-over 304 to finish seventh overall while Tyler's Mathilde Bertuol registered an 18-over 306 to place ninth.
  • Head coach Laura Brown, who started the Falcon program in 1998, has been at the helm of all 10 titles, including five of the last six.
