Patterson's reaction

"This award means a lot to me because the journey wasn't easy.  I came to Hostos and my freshman year I played out of position as a small forward.  I was told that in order for me to continue by basketball career I would have to become a guard.  I worked on my game all summer and was able to gain my coach's trust to be a guard.  Not only did I become a guard in one year, I was blessed enough to receive this award!  I want to thank the coaching staff and my teammates for a phenomenal year!"
