What is your favorite thing about the NJCAA?
I'm very proud to be a part of an organization that provides educational and athletic opportunities to thousands of student-athletes every year. We have an opportunity to positively impact the lives of many young people as well as guide and help them grow into great people who learn to serve others and have confidence in their abilities.
What is something special about yourself related to your job as an officer?
I appreciate the opportunity that I have as an officer to positively impact the association and ultimately student-athletes. The NJCAA has many individuals with strong leadership skills giving of themselves to benefit others. Being a part of that and being able to witness our student-athletes in competition, determined and having fun, provides me with great personal and professional satisfaction.
Why do you recommend the NJCAA to potential student-athletes?
The NJCAA not only provides opportunities for student-athletes but it also provides them life balance. They can enjoy playing and competing, but don't always have to "live it". They can have work/life/school balance and enjoy all college and life has to offer.
What are some of the most important initiatives that are coming up for the organization?
I believe that developing a competitive philosophy for all three divisions will be very important work for the association over the next few years. I also feel that providing a pathway for emerging sports to full NJCAA implementation is vital.
Your favorite leadership quote?
I don't necessarily have a favorite quote, but student-athletes hear me say often:
"Control what you can control"
"Every decision you make has a positive or negative consequence"
"Commit to Complete"
Can you tell us something special about you in general?
On my desk sits photos of my family; my immediate family (three brothers, three sisters & lots of others!), my volleyball family and my extended work family. I love all of them! My husband and children are very supportive of my passion to further develop opportunities for future student-athletes on my campus, in the NJCAA and individuals in my community.
