Lady Commodores Victorious Over Clark State

September 22, 2017 - - The Lorain County Community College women's volleyball team won for the sixth time in its last eight matches by defeating Clark State this evening, 25-19, 25-16, 23-25, 25-18 in an OCCAC match in Lorain, Ohio.

The Commodores won the first two sets before Clark State came back to win the third set.  But LCCC dominated set #4 to take the match, 3-1.

"I didn't like the way we played tonight," Coach Ted Whitsel stated.  "We played with a lack of intensity.  We need to play with high energy every time out, like we played against Columbus State."

"The first and second sets had high energy but we were flat in the third set," Whitsel noted.

Freshman Alana Carrion was tabbed as the No. 1 "Star of the Game."  She added five kills and seven blocks to an all-around outstanding game. Freshman Gloria Souter was the No. 2 Star, contributing five ace serves and 8 kills in just 10 attempts. Sophomore McKenzie Zauner was credited with 37 digs and earned the 3rd Star of the match.  Freshman Angela Dunn was also singled out by Coach Whitsel for her all around play.

Sophomore Kelli Warren added 11 kills and Freshman Tanea McCord served four aces.
