BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The 5th seeded Western Tech Cavaliers pulled off the first upset of the 2019 NJCAA Division III national tournament, defeating 4th seeded Hibbing Community College, 62-53, on Thursday afternoon at the Arthur L. Scott Center. 

In a game as tight as the seeding would indicate, the Region XIII foes found themselves tied at halftime and after three quarters, but the Cavaliers used a 23-14 advantage in the 4th quarter to pull away for the victory. 

Caitlin Young led Western Tech (WI) with 19 points, while Makenna Gabel added 8 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds. 

Alexis Desjarlait led Hibbing (MN) with 12 points. 

Western Tech now advances to face #1 seed Hostos Community College (NY) on Friday at 5pm, while Hibbing will take on 8th seeded Anne Arundel Community College (MD) at noon.
