The Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball team faltered late as they were defeated 75-73 by No. 6 Mohawk Valley on Saturday afternoon in the McDonough Sports Complex on the campus of HVCC.

Hudson Valley surrendered an eight-point lead with 1:49 remaining in the game, which resulted from three late game turnovers, allowing the nationally-ranked Hawks to avoid the upset at HVCC for the second consecutive year.

The Vikings were led by James Blake II, who finished with a game-high 20 points on 6-of-12 shooting and 7-of-10 from the free throw line. Blake also tallied four rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block in 35 minutes of action.

Brandon Gordon and Jason Harrison also scored in double-figures as Gordon tallied 13 points on 4-of-12 shooting and Harrison shot 4-of-8 for 11 points in 14 minutes of game action.

The Vikings have a few days off before they are back in action on Thursday, Nov. 16th when they travel to take on Clinton. Clinton is an up-and-coming program who recently defeated Mohawk Valley last week. It will be a tough matchup for the Vikings in Plattsburgh, NY. The game is set to tip-off at 6 p.m.
