Erie Men Finish 6th, Women 8th at NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships
The Erie Community College men's and women's swimming and diving teams posted several podium appearances en route to its best team finish in several years at the NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships held in Fort Pierce, FL. Erie's men accumulated 153 points to finish in 6th place in the country. It was the best result for the men since a sixth place finish in 2008. The women brought home an eighth place finish.
The relay team of Ryan Nebrich, Alec Sedki, Stu Jensen and Leo Wasch reached the podium in all four of its events, taking fifth place in the 800 Free Relay and 400 Medley Relay and eighth place in the 200 Free Relay and 400 Free Relay.
Sedki also earned his own individual CSCAA All-American accolade and podium appearance with an eighth place finish in the 200 Backstroke.
On the women's side, Isabella DeMeo reached the podium and earned CSCAA All-American recognition twice with her eighth place finishes in the 200 Free and 500 Free. She also finished 10th in the 1,650 Free and 12th in the 1,000 Free.
Other scoring performances for the Erie men included Sedki's 10th place finish in the 100 Back, 13th place finish in the 100 IM and 15th place finish in the 50 Back. Nebrich took 13th in the 500 Free and 1,650 Free, 14th in the 50 Back, and 15th in the 1,000 Free. Jensen was 16th in the 500 Free and 400 IM. The relay team of Ayden Walker, Mark Zeder, Nathan Setlock and Josh Wier were 10th in the 200 Medley Relay.
The championships return to Buffalo next year as Erie will host the 2025 NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
