DAC STANDINGS

FARMERS BRANCH, Texas – Dallas College Brookhaven's baseball team enters the final week of the regular season with an opportunity to lock down third place in the Dallas Athletic Conference and host the single-elimination portion of next week's National Junior College Athletic Association Division III South Central District Tournament.

The Bears (23-25, 14-13 DAC) hold a one-game lead over Dallas College North Lake (24-29, 13-14) for third place in the league. The third place team is granted the option to host the first two games of the district tournament before the site moves to the No. 1 seed. Currently, third-ranked Dallas College Eastfield (41-11, 22-5) occupies that seat, with a two-game cushion over No. 6 Dallas College Richland (35-17, 20-7).

Brookhaven begins a three-game series at Dallas College Mountain View (13-31, 3-24) Wednesday. North Lake hosts Eastfield that day. The series shifts to the Game 1 road team Friday and Saturday to wrap up the regular season, and determine the district seeding for the top six teams. North Arkansas will be slotted as the No. 4 seed, and play the No. 5 seed. Whichever DAC team finishes fourth in the league will assume the No. 5 seed in the district tournament, which runs through Saturday, May 18.

The Bears swept a series from Dallas College Cedar Valley (29-24, 9-18) last week to break a tie with the Blazers for third place. Brookhaven and North Lake split their season series, each winning three games.

Brookhaven enters the week eight games ahead of its win total from a year ago. The Bears finished 9-21 in DAC play in 2023. Brookhaven won the league in 2021, going 30-5 in a DAC-only schedule, before falling to Coastal Bend College in the South District West Division championship game.
