Cayuga Community College Men's Basketball lost a home conference and regional game to Corning Community College on Tuesday.

The Spartans fell behind early and were unable to catch the Red Barons despite playing a stronger second half, losing 81-66. The loss moves Cayuga to 0-7 on the season.

Corning started the game on an 18-2 run to take control, and led by double digits for the rest of the first half. The Red Barons sank 10 three-pointers in the first frame and led 53-25 at halftime.

Cayuga played the Red Barons even in the second half, cutting Corning's lead to 13 at one point. The first-half deficit was too large for the Spartans to complete the comeback, though.

Forward Tony Borges and guard Desean Strachan led Cayuga with 16 points apiece, with Borges also grabbing eight rebounds. Donald Grant finished with 10 points, Wol Machteng had nine points and seven rebounds, and Chris Kirkland added five assists.

Cayuga is on the road Saturday, Dec. 2, at Genesee Community College. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
