Sept. 1, 2018 --The Lorain County Community College volleyball team played its best volleyball of the young season at the Owens CC Tournament today, winning two matches in six straight sets. The Lady Commodores (D-III) outplayed D-II Kellogg (MI) CC, 25-19, 25-15, 25-22. Later in the day, LCCC handled D-II Hagerstown (MD) CC, 25-15, 25-13, 25-18, to improve its season record to 4-4.
The offense came to life with a high hitting percentage all day. The team combined for 73 kill shots and just 19 errors in the two victories.
Defensively, sophomore Shannon Minney (Amherst/Steele), freshman Sarah Severo (Columbia/Columbia Station) and sophomore Angela Dunn (Fairview Park/Fairview) combined for 81 digs in the six sets.
The Lady Commodores also served extremely well, combining for 15 aces and just one error.
LCCC returns home to host Cuyahoga CC at 6 p.m., Wednesday, September 5 in an OCCAC contest.
